Residential

If you're thinking about a shed, you probably want to know one thing first: when does money change hands? Short answer: not until you've seen and approved a formal quote. Here's the whole process, start to finish.

I'm Anthony with Port City Sheds. Jamie Policz and I build custom sheds for homeowners in New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick Counties.

The short version

  1. Start your order online, or call or text
  2. I follow up and go over the details with you
  3. You get a formal quote and approve it
  4. A 50% deposit starts your build
  5. We build it in one day, usually about 5–6 hours on site
  6. The balance is due when it's done

No payment is taken online.

Step 1: Start your order

You've got a few ways to start:

  • Order online. Pick your size and submit.
  • Design it in the 3D designer and hit "Get a Quote."
  • Call or text (910) 800-0897, or email Info@PortCitySheds.com.

When you check out online, no payment is taken. Your order details just come to me so I can put a quote together or call you to talk it through.

Our standard line is the Premium Gable in 10x10, 10x12 and 12x12, painted and built on site. We also do custom builds. Prices are on our pricing page and in our online store.

Step 2: We go over the details

After you order, I reach out personally to go over:

  • Door and window placement
  • Layout and which way it faces on your property
  • Paint and shingle colors
  • Extras like a ramp, loft, or workbench

This is also when we talk about your yard: access from the driveway, the gate, and whether your HOA or county needs anything first. A quick call now saves headaches later.

Step 3: Formal quote and approval

Next you get a formal quote from our job management system. That's the document that sets the price, the terms, and how long the quote is good for. Conversations and emails about pricing aren't a quote. The formal one is.

Take your time with it. Ask questions. Nothing moves forward until you approve it.

Step 4: 50% deposit

Once you approve the quote, a 50% deposit starts your build. That's what puts you on the schedule and lets us get your shed going in the shop.

We take cash, check, or any major credit card. We also offer financing, and we can go over options when we quote. Checking your options through our financing partner won't affect your credit score.

Step 5: We build it in the shop, then on your site

Here's what most people don't expect: about 90% of your shed is built in our shop before build day. Walls are framed square, panels are put together, then everything is loaded and hauled to your place.

On build day, we assemble it on site. Most sheds go up in one day, usually 5–6 hours, depending on the size and options you picked.

Jamie and I build every shed ourselves. Jamie is a licensed North Carolina General Contractor (GC LIC #63008) with over 40 years in residential and commercial construction. We don't send crews.

Step 6: Balance on completion

When your shed is done, the remaining 50% is due. Same payment options: cash, check, or card.

After the build

If you need something later, you're calling the people who built it.

What we won't do

  • Take payment through the website
  • Ask for a deposit before you've approved a formal quote
  • Hand your build off to a crew we don't know

How scheduling works right now

We only take 1–2 site builds a week, and they fill up. Builds happen Tuesday through Thursday. Right now we're sequencing builds between the holidays.

The deposit after your approved quote is what holds your slot. If you want a shed before holiday guests show up, or before spring yard season, start the quote now even if build day is a few weeks out. Here's more on why fall and winter are a good time to order.

Ready to start?
